Our Services

to Our Services

Everything you need to know about catalogues and finding aids, research support, and how to request and access items from SUB Göttingen's collections. It also includes detailed information on the rules and conditions for copying, scanning, and photographing historical materials.

Research and Teaching

to Research and Teaching

We assist researchers at all levels in using our collections and encourage them to make these materials the main subject of their academic work. We support faculty members in integrating special collections into their teaching, for example through classes held in our rooms with historical materials. The ARCANAlab specialises in the digital reconstruction of damaged texts and collaborates with researchers and cultural institutions, offering insights into these technologies through seminars and workshops.

Exhibitions

Museums and other cultural institutions can request items from SUB Göttingen for exhibitions. The Zentrale Kustodie supports the university's collections and runs the Museum of knowlege, Forum Wissen.

Preservation

to Preservation

Preserving our collections for future generations lies at the heart of the library’s mission. This includes careful handling of historical materials, proper storage, support for exhibitions, and digitisation practices that ensure their long-term integrity.

Archives and Acquisitions

to Archives and Acquisitions

The SUB Göttingen is continually expanding its collections through purchases, donations, and the archiving of official records. On these pages, we explain how we develop our collection and highlight the main acquisition priorities of our historical holdings. University departments and institutions can also find practical guidance on their legal obligation to offer records and on transferring materials to the University Archive.
