At our largest location, we offer you a wide range of services of a modern academic universal library. Our team will advise you on all aspects of library use and support you in your search for information and specialist literature.

Arbeitsplätze
In der Zentralbibliothek stehen Ihnen zahlreiche Einzelarbeitsplätze mit oder ohne PC, lärmberuhigte Gruppenbereiche und geschlossene, buchbare Gruppenräume zur Verfügung. Für interaktive Zusammenarbeit im Team eignet sich das DCS.
Arbeitskabinen und Bücherwagen
In der Zentralbibliothek bieten wir Studierenden und Promovenden die Möglichkeit, Arbeitskabinen und Schließfächer über eCampus zu reservieren. Außerdem werden an der Servicetheke Schlüssel für abschließbare Bücherwagen ausgegeben.
Digital Creative Space
Das Digital Creative Space (DCS) im Erdgeschoss wurde speziell für Gruppenarbeit konzipiert und bietet eine moderne Lern- und Arbeitsumgebung für kleinere und größere Teams.
Learning Resources Center
Das Learning Resources Center (LRC) finden Sie im 2. Obergeschoss. Das LRC ist eine Kooperation der SUB Göttingen mit studIT (IT-Service für Studierende)und der Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen (GWDG).
Schließfächer
Eigene Unterlagen über Nacht einschließen: Studierende der Universität Göttingen können Schließfächer im 1.OG und 2.OG über den eCampus für mehrere Tage reservieren. Alle anderen Nutzenden können an der Informationstheke einen Schlüssel für ein Schließfach ausleihen.
Scannen und drucken
In der Zentralbibliothek stehen Ihnen Buchscanner und Multifunktionsgeräte für das Drucken, Kopieren und Scannen und Scanner für Mikroformen zur Verfügung. Ein Scan-Zelt für das optimierte Scannen mit dem Smartphone finden Sie an der Informationstheke.
Stehpulte
Ideal für längere Lern- oder Recherchephasen: für konzentriertes und ergonomisches Arbeiten stehen Ihnen in der Zentralbibliothek Stehpulte zur Verfügung.
Besondere Räume
Die Zentralbibliothek bietet Räume für besondere Bedürfnisse – sei es zum Lernen mit Kindern, für komfortables Arbeiten bei eingeschränkter Mobilität oder für Lernpausen im Raum der Ruhe.
Die Zentralbibliothek kennenlernen
Erkunden Sie die Zentralbibliothek mit unserer mobilen Actionbound-Führung. Ideal für Studienanfängerinnen und -anfänger. Sie bildet die Basis für weiterführende Schulungen, z. B. zu Katalogen und Datenbanken.
Die Führung zeigt Ihnen unter anderem:
- das Gebäude mit wichtigen Anlaufstellen
- Buch- und Zeitschriftenbestände sowie deren Aufstellung
- Arbeitsplätze und Hinweise zur Nutzung
- Informationen zur Ausleihe
Hinweis: Arbeitskabinen für Privatpersonen sind nicht buchbar, auch wenn sie in der Führung erwähnt werden.

- The freely accessible literaturein the reading rooms of the Central Library is organized by subject group.
- Please ordervolumes from the closed stacks via GöDiscovery or the Göttingen University Catalog (GUK). You will find your closed stacks orders in the self-collection area on the first floor next to the information desk.
- Interlibrary loans and ordered media that may only be used in the library (reference collection) can be obtained at the information desk.
WLAN
All students of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen receive an account to access the WLAN upon enrollment. Members of the University of Göttingen automatically receive an account via the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG), with which integration into the eduroam network is possible. Private and guest users use the WLAN (GuestOnCampus) with the ID Bibliotheksnummer@guest.uni-goettingen.de and the password of the copy and print account.
Der Zugang zum Internet in den Räumen der SUB Göttingen erfolgt per WLAN über eduroam und GuestOnCampus.
Accessibility at the location
Barrier-free access
You will find a barrier-free entrance to the right of the main entrance to the Central Library. The entrance door opens on request at the call pillar. The reading rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors as well as the Learning Resources Center (LRC) can be reached by elevator, which is located next to the reception desk. Wheelchair-accessible toilets can be found both on the first floor and on the 1st floor in the fifth finger of the building.
Rooms for people with restricted mobility
A single study cubicle on the 1st floor is specially equipped for students with mobility impairments. Fill out the form and have your student ID card activated for the rooms for students with restricted mobility.
Scan service for visually impaired students
We are happy to scan documents from our holdings in various text and image formats for you free of charge and send you the scanned materials by e-mail. Please search for the desired titles in GöDiscovery or in the Göttingen University Catalog (GUK) and send us the title and page numbers by e-mail. Please also indicate when you need the scans.
