Library fee rules
The Lower Saxony State and University Library Göttingen (SUB Göttingen) is subject to the Fee Schedule of the State of Lower Saxony (as of 11/2021).
The amended schedule of fees for the libraries of the state of Lower Saxony has been published in the Lower Saxony Law and Ordinance Gazette (Nds. GVBl.) 2021, p. 757. It has been in force since November 27, 2021 and also applies to all members and affiliates of the universities.
Section 2 of the schedule of fees stipulates that expenses, in particular postage costs, are to be paid in addition to the fees, unless otherwise specified in the schedule of fees. A unit within the meaning of the schedule of fees is each individual volume or each work borrowed or used as a physical unit.

Reminders
The reminder fees are based on the scale of fees of the state of Lower Saxony.
They amount to
- 2.00 Euro per medium for the 1st reminder,
- 5.00 Euro per medium for the 2nd reminder,
- 10.00 Euro per medium for the 3rd reminder.
This also applies to interlibrary loan orders that have already been booked to your account. Reminder fees must also be paid if our reminder letter has not reached you. Please note that the payment of reminder fees does not automatically lead to an extension of the loan period.
Reminder fees are already due when the reminder letter is issued, not only when the reminder letter has reached you. You will receive the 1st and 2nd reminders by e-mail. The 3rd reminder will be sent to you by post.
Blocking
Your account will be blocked for all borrowing transactions if you have a debt of 10.00 euros or more.
Loss of or damage to borrowed media
If you lose or damage an item you have borrowed, you must pay full compensation, even if you are not at fault.
In such a case, please complete a loss/damage report immediately.
Payment of fees
Please pay your reminder fees at our self-service checkouts or alternatively use our bank details. It is not possible to pay fees in cash.

Please note that it may take several days for the amount to reach us and for your outstanding debts to be cleared. Your loan account is automatically blocked if the outstanding amount exceeds 10 euros, even for renewals.
