Open access in the area of publishing describes free and unrestricted access to scientific research results and their reusability. Göttingen State and University Library supports open access publishing with various services and infrastructures.

Under certain conditions, the publication costs for publishing in open access journals can be financed in full or in part by the University of Göttingen's publication fund. In addition, there are numerous publishing agreements that support open access publishing, for example with discounts.
