At our largest location, we offer you a wide range of services of a modern academic universal library. Our team will advise you on all aspects of library use and support you in your search for information and specialist literature.

Study Places
The Central Library offers numerous individual study places with or without PCs, quiet group areas and closed, bookable group study rooms. The Digital Creative Space (DCS) is ideal for interactive teamwork.


Digital Creative Space
The Digital Creative Space (DCS) on the ground floor has been specially designed for group work and offers a modern learning and working environment for smaller and larger teams.

Learning Resources Center
You will find the Learning Resources Center (LRC) on the 2nd floor. The LRC is a cooperation of the SUB Göttingen with studIT (IT service for students)and the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen (GWDG).

Lockers
Lock up your own documents overnight: Göttingen University students can reserve lockers on the 1st and 2nd floors for several days via the eCampus. All other users can borrow a key for a locker at the information desk.

Scanning and Printing
Book scanners and multifunctional devices for printing, copying and scanning and scanners for microforms are available in the Central Library. You will find a scanning tent for optimized scanning with your smartphone at the information desk.

Standing Desks
Ideal for longer periods of study or research: Standing desks are available in the Central Library for concentrated and ergonomic work.

Special Rooms
The Central Library offers rooms for special needs - be it for learning with children, for comfortable working with limited mobility or for study breaks in a quiet room.

- The freely accessible literature in the reading rooms of the Central Library is organized by subject group.
- Please order volumes from the closed stacks via GöDiscovery or the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). You will find your closed stacks orders in the self-collection area on the first floor next to the information desk.
- Inter-library loans and ordered media that may only be used in the library (reference collection) can be obtained at the information desk.
WLAN
All students of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen receive an account to access the WLAN upon enrollment. Members of the University of Göttingen automatically receive an account via the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG), with which integration into the eduroam network is possible. Private and guest users use the WLAN (GuestOnCampus) with the ID Library card number@guest.uni-goettingen.de and the password of the copy and print account.
Available WLAN networks
Access to the Internet in the rooms of the SUB Göttingen is provided via WLAN with eduroam and GuestOnCampus.
Accessibility at the Location
Barrier-free access
You will find a barrier-free entrance to the right of the main entrance to the Central Library. The entrance door opens on request at the call pillar. You can open this door by using your library card. Please contact the Information Desk (information@sub.uni-goettingen.de) to have your card activated for this purpose.
The reading rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors as well as the Learning Resources Center (LRC) can be reached by elevator, which is located next to the reception desk. Wheelchair-accessible toilets can be found both on the first floor and on the 1st floor in the fifth finger of the building.
Rooms for people with restricted mobility
A single study cubicle on the 1st floor is specially equipped for students with mobility impairments. Fill out the form and have your student ID card activated for the rooms for students with restricted mobility.
Scan service for visually impaired students
We are happy to scan documents from our holdings in various text and image formats for you free of charge and send you the scanned materials by email. Please search for the desired titles in GöDiscovery or in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) and send us the title and page numbers by email. Please also indicate when you need the scans.
