Ethnology
The SUB Göttingen houses ethnological literature on non-European peoples and non-literate cultures. The collection of ethnological literature for Central Asia and Siberia is one of the largest in Germany.
Catalogues
The Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK), which contains the literature acquired in the SUB in book form (monographs) as well as the printed and electronic journals, offers you a first search entry.
Monographs are best searched via the author (search entry Person, Author [PER]) and/or via the title (search entry Title Keywords [TIT]) of the work.
To search for a journal, use the search entry "Titelanfang Zeitschrift/Serie [ZTI]" and enter the beginning of the title of a journal as a string, i.e. word for word in exact sequence.
You can use various options in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) to find literature. Use for this purpose the specific search keys.
In the discovery system GöDiscovery you will find books, journals, databases and a large number of articles from journals - both from the holdings of the SUB Göttingen and the institute libraries as well as from external sources. By default, the local holdings are searched; the search area can be expanded via the settings. Specific searches for literature in certain languages or from certain countries are not possible here.
Both the GUK and GöDiscovery allow you to enter several keywords at the same time, e. g. shamanism, magic, singing, Tungusic, etc.
Books: print and digital
Locations
Some of the holdings are freely accessible in Leesesaal 1 in the Central Library under the QM system unit and for the Asian region in the Cultural Studies Divisional Library under QMH to QMM. The Library of the Institute of Ethnology houses further holdings.

Databases
Databases can be found in the Database Information System (DBIS), organized by subject. The licensed fee-based databases can also be found in GöDiscovery and in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). The free databases can only be found in DBIS. Data resources of various types are listed, in particular subject bibliographies that list articles, as well as full-text databases that contain articles from electronic journals.
