Medicine
Medical holdings can be found primarily in the Medical Library. For further information on the services offered, please contact the subject librarian.
Catalogues
In the discovery system GöDiscovery you can find books, journals, databases and a large number of articles from journals - both from the holdings of the SUB Göttingen and the institute libraries as well as from external sources. By default, the local holdings are searched; the search area can be expanded via the settings.
In the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) you will only find the local holdings.
Books: print and digital
Books - print and online
All books - print and online - can be found in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) or in GöDiscovery. Since 2020, the majority of monographs and textbooks have been purchased in electronic form. We also offer you a large textbook portfolio via the learning platform via medici from Thieme Verlag, which you can access via the database information system (DBIS).
Locations
The entire printed literature stock of the Medical Library is freely accessible in the rooms of the Medical Library. The exception is the stock of print journals published before 1985, which is located in the Central Library´s stacks. It is not possible to order printed books via the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). Please take teh printed literature from the shelves yourself and borrow it from the Self-Checkout Terminals in the library.
You will find the print media on the upper floor in systematic order in section XS.
Book not available?
If you cannot find a title, you can order the book via interlibrary loan or send us a purchase suggestion for an e-book or a print title.
Journals
With very few exceptions, medical journals are only available digitally. You can find e- and print editions in GöDiscovery and in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) provides an overview sorted by subject and uses color symbols to indicate access to the full text. Many licensed titles can also be used outside the campus network via eduVPN.
Databases
Databases can be found in the Database Information System (DBIS), organized by subject. The licensed fee-based databases can also be found in GöDiscovery and in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). The free databases can only be found in DBIS. Data resources of various types are listed, in particular subject bibliographies that list articles, as well as full-text databases that contain articles from electronic journals.
