Psychology
The SUB Göttingen has an extensive collection of psychological literature. Various catalogues and databases are available for searching for books, journals and articles
Catalogues
In the discovery system GöDiscovery you can find books, journals, databases and a large number of articles from journals - both from the holdings of the SUB Göttingen and the departmental libraries as well as from external sources. By default, the local holdings are searched; the search area can be expanded via the settings. In the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) you will only find the local holdings.
Find books
Books can be found in the Göttingen University Catalog (GUK) or in GöDiscovery Printed books that are not available on site can often be ordered via interlibrary loan. E-books from the holdings of the SUB Göttingen that are not open access can also be used from outside the campus network via eduVPN.
Locations
Some psychology books are freely accessible in the Central Library . You will find them sorted by subject in sections FA to FI on the first floor of the reading room. A large part is located in closed stacks and must be ordered via GöDiscovery or the Göttingen University Catalog (GUK). Another location is the Waldweg Library, where you can use or borrow books on site.
Book not available?
If you need a book that is not available in Göttingen, you can send us a Purchase suggestion. If you are a student at the University of Göttingen and need a textbook for your term paper, thesis or other coursework that is currently on loan or not available, please use the book acquisition programme for students.
Journals
Psychological journals are mainly accessible as e-journals. You can find both the e-journals and the print editions of journals in GöDiscovery and in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). You can find the psychological e-journals also in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). Articles from journals with a green dot are available open access in full text. Access to the full text of articles from journals with a yellow dot is possible within the campus network of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, for members of the University of Göttingen via eduVPN also from outside the campus network.
Databases
Databases can be found in the Database Information System (DBIS), organized by subject. The licensed fee-based databases can also be found in GöDiscovery and in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). The free databases can only be found in DBIS. Data resources of various kinds are listed, in particular subject bibliographies that list articles, as well as full-text databases that contain articles from electronic journals.
